Far Cry 3 berlokasi di sebuah pulau tropis antara Samudra Hindia dan Pasifik . Berlibur ke pulau tropis dalam rangka liburan , protagonis Jason Brody justru terlibat sebuah petualangan menyeramkan di mana ia harus menyelamatkan teman temannya yang telah diculik oleh penjahat setempat . Tak hanya itu , ia juga harus menghadapi suku lokal yang kejam , binatang buas , dan perang saudara dalam pulau tersebut .
